Ten Days till Negotiation - Day 2

Leadership happens in small conversations. Conversations that could take place over the amount of time it takes to drink a cup of coffee.

On the second day of preparing for negotiation, invite your boss to have a cup of _______. Engage in an open conversation by asking him/her what he or she feels has helped in having a successful career?

Determine if you have any of the qualities they respect. I bet you are thinking, “What if they say working regular hours at the office?”   Yes, that would be not so funny since the whole goal of negotiation was to ask for a flexible schedule.  

Rather than become disheartened, just ask another question to determine why he or she feels that is importaant. The goal is to find out as much information as possible before you start the process of negotiation.
