Project Book Drop for Kids is a year long commitment to buy STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related picture books from independent book stores and drop those books at various Little Free Libraries.
In addition to dropping books, lesson plans and activity ideas will be shared. Parents and teachers can utilize these ideas when working with young children.
Sharing picture books that are fun and inspire problem solving, persistence and innovation is the intention. The long term goal is that kids will see that they have the agency to lead themselves to enjoy an enriched and fulfilling life.
What does Project Book Drop for Kids have to do with the leadership process?
Leading others begins with an individual deciding to make a difference. As a blogger and leadership educator, I choose to make the commitment to early childhood literacy (picture books) and small business growth (independent book stores.) As an instigator of this project my leadership process looks like this:
I see kids reading. I see kids solving problems and innovating. I see adults using the lesson plans to ask strong questions that allow kids to grow. As a leader it is important that I keep in mind what I intend to see. That way I am more likely to keep going when I get busy or run into obstacles.
